The African Cup of Nations has been interesting and also challenging for some teams. We have had several offsets that we can ever imagine but as they say the game of football is always difficult to predict.
All teams performing at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) have played twice, with Group A and Group B already concluded with the three rounds of games at the ongoing tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.
With 5 teams already advanced to the knockout stages there is still a long way to go and surprises could still happen as some teams could still qualify among third-placed teams.’
The top two teams from each of the six groups will automatically enter the Round of 16, as well as the four best third-placed teams.
Below is a list of teams that have qualified, those who have not qualified and those who are hoping to be among the best third-placed teams.
ELIMINATED: Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique
ALREADY QUALIFIED: Cape Verde, Senegal, Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria, Egypt
BEST THIRD PLACE CANDIDATES: Although this doesn’t guarantee them a place in the Round of 16. It all depends on results from other groups.
