A date with destiny awaits Bafana Bafana on Wednesday as the national team faces Tunisia in their final group stage match of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Bafana can progress to the knockout stages from Group E provided they don’t experience a disastrous game against the Eagles of Carthage.

Head coach Hugo Broos has underlined that the aim has always been progression to the last 16, but he is slightly worried with the number of days they have had to prepare for this key showdown.
“Our first goal is to achieve the second round and get past the group stages. I think there is a chance and opportunity for us tomorrow. A little bit uncomfortable is that our opponent have had one day more preparation than us but after the big victory on Sunday, I think we got a big boost of energy,” Broos told the media at the press conference.
Tunisia, who were shocked by Namibia in their own group opener last weekend, need a good result just as much as Bafana do and Broos refuses to read into that loss to the Brave Warriors.
“We know what we can achieve tomorrow, so the team will be ready, we know that Tunisia are a good team. I don’t look at the first game, I think they underestimated Namibia that’s why they lost,” said the Belgian.
Mamelodi Sundowns defender Grant Kekana, who was given his tournament debut on Sunday in the 4-0 hammering of the Brave Warriors and put on a stellar show, adds that South Africa are geared for the clash.
“I think the guys have prepared well. Everyone is confident and looking forward to tomorrow. It’s obviously a big game, we don’t want to go home early so we are going to try and do our best to get a positive result tomorrow,” he said.
