Bafana Bafana bounced back into contention with a resounding 4-0 victory against Namibia in the Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday.
South Africa had lost their opening game 2-0 to Mali a week ago, and coach Hugo Broos’ charges were under immense pressure to beat their neighbours in their second Group E game.

The Belgian went on to hail the performance and underline its importance to progress to the last 16 stage of Afcon.
“We knew that we had to win the game today to have some chance to get through to the group stages. So, we were a little bit nervous in the beginning of the game but more and more and certainly after we scored the first foal, we were released,” Broos told journalists in the press conference after the game in Korhogo.
“We played a good game. We did a good analysis of the opponent, we showed the players what their weaknesses were, what are the strongest points and they are very dangerous with long balls, very dangerous,” he added.
Broos stated how the team did a thorough analysis of the Namibians, who had shocked Tunisia 1-0 in their tournament opener and believes the emphatic triumph will go a long way boosting their goal-difference and in deciding the fate of the group.
“We trained on it so they weren’t today, so we played a good game. A good win, important for the goal-difference and now we have a boost of confidence for the game on Wednesday against a very strong opponent,” Broos added.
“An opponent who when they win that game will stay here in Ivory Coast, so we will prepare the team very good and let’s hope they are ready,” he continued.
Bafana’s date of destiny will be on the line on Wednesday when they tackle Tunisia, in a game where a draw should be enough for South Africa to progress to the knockout stage.
