Special Invitation for Tebboune to the Libya Summit

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune was invited to join African heads of state in Brazzaville for a summit dedicated to the situation in Libya. The invitation was delivered personally by the Congolese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean-Claude Gakosso, emphasizing the central role of Algeria in Libyan affairs.

Algeria at the Heart of Libyan Deliberations

Algeria, neighboring Libya, is considered a key player in the search for a solution to the Libyan crisis, due to its in-depth understanding of the complexities of the issue. The Brazzaville summit, scheduled for February 5, will focus on national reconciliation initiatives undertaken by Libyans themselves, including a reconciliation conference scheduled for April 28, 2024.

Energy and Bilateral Cooperation

The summit will also provide an opportunity to strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly in the field of gas. Gakosso expressed strong optimism about future collaborations between Sonatrach and SNPC, aimed at increasing Africa’s energy sovereignty.

A Significant Meeting for Diplomacy and Energy

This meeting underlines the importance of diplomatic relations between Algeria and Congo-Brazzaville and highlights the strategic issues in Libya and the opportunities for energy cooperation between the two countries.
