President of Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC), Sam Ikpea, said that the Super Eagles would not be intimidated by the Ivorian fans.
The News agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Eagles will take on Cote d`Ivoire on Jan. 18 in their second match of Group A.
Ikpea gave the assurances in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos before leaving for Abidjan for the 34th African Cup of Nations (AFCON)
The Super Eagles are in Group A alongside the host, Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bissau.
Ikpea said that the supporters club knows the magnitude of playing the host during a tournament like AFCON.
“NFSC always provides the best support for the Eagles whenever they are playing, and we want to repeat such support in Cote d’ Ivoire.
“We are the 12th player on the pitch. Nigeria will be playing against the host; we can imagine how they will come in their large numbers,” he said.
Ikpea said that the members of the supporters club from Nigeria would be joined by those in Cote d ‘Ivoire to ensure that the team don’t support.
“We believe in the Super Eagles to do well in the AFCON and we don’t have any doubt that they will do well when the tournament gets underway.
“Our members are ready for the task ahead and we will be traveling to Abidjan before the match against the host,” he said. (NAN)
