The Teranga Lions of Senegal are through to the knockout stage of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
This follows a resounding 3-1 victory over the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon on Friday evening.
Now top of Group C with six points, Senegal becomes the second country to advance to the next round of the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast.
In the game against Cameroon today, Senegal impressed right from the start of the first half to make their intent for victory clear.
Just 16 minutes into the game, a deflected Ismaila Sarr strike beat Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana to give Senegal the lead.
That goal separated the two countries at halftime before three goals were scored in the second half.
Goals from Habib Diallo and Sadio Mane in the 71st and 90th minutes respectively sandwiched Cameroon’s only consolation goal by Jean-Charles Castelleto as Senegal ran away with all three points.
In the last round of group games, Senegal will face off with Guinea while Gambia lock horns with Cameroon.
