The National Union of Notaries has called on the government to withdraw the draft law organizing the profession, and not to submit to the approval by the council of ministers.

In a statement released Wednesday, the union considers that this draft law is opposed to the basic principles of democracy and dedicated the total control of the ministry of Justice on a liberal profession by definition.

The trade union denounces the indifference of the government with respect to the claims of the notaries who are for the most part, to promote the profession. He noted that the precariousness of the financial situation of notaries is the natural result of the methods of work obsolete, as imposed by the legislation in force.

In its statement, the union called for the abolition of laws, regulations, measures and practices that are contrary to the Constitution, including, in particular, the order of the minister of Justice of 19 April 2018. A text concerning approval of the rules applicable to notaries for the detection and the reporting of the transactions and suspicious transactions, according to the same source.

As a reminder, the notaries who have completed a strike last week, decided the organization, from Thursday, December 20, and during three weeks of protests to assert their attachment to the prerogatives that are guaranteed by law, in connection, particularly, with the executive power.
