The 18th “Chinese Bridge” language competition held in Cotonou

Marie Laure Akoussan will represent Benin at the 18th Chinese Bridge Competition of Chinese Proficiency for Foreign College Students scheduled for July this year in Hunan, China, as she qualified on Saturday in Cotonou, in Benin.

The second-year student for Bachelor in Chinese language at Confucius Institute in Abomey Calavi University, came first among six contestants at the Benin zone final preliminary contest of the international competition.

“I am deeply moved to have qualified following the final stage of Benin preliminary to represent adequately the whole Benin at the 18th Chinese Bridge Competition of Chinese Proficiency for Foreign College Students”, Marie Laure Akoussan said.

“I will do all my best to ensure that Benin ranks among the best of the countries participating in the contest”, she also said.

On the occasion, Chinese ambassador to Benin, Peng Jingtao, explained that the yearly international Chinese language contest aiming to promote the Chinese culture in the world establishes a bridge between China and the countries around the world.

“Chinese Bridge, the contest of Chinese language proficiency for foreign students is not only a bridge for visiting China but also a bridge of great opportunity for the future”, he commented.

Benin preliminary stage of the international contest included self-introduction of the candidates, answers to questioning of jurors, the presentation of a region of China, a storytelling and an artistic performance. Enditem
