Rwanda And Botswana Are Committed Members Of AU – Kagame

- Advertisment -

President Kagame has praised his Botswana counterpart, Mokgweetsi Masisi, for his commitment to put forward the prosperity of the people of the Republic of Botswana and of Africa.

He said that he, and President Masisi, who is in office for 14 months now, will continue to work together, “as well as with other member states, to integrate and advance our continent.”

President Kagame is in Botswana for a two day working visit following a courtesy invitation of President Masisi. This is his first visit to the country.

“This is my first visit to Botswana and it is a pleasure to be here. I am happy to convey to you, and all Batswana, warm greetings from the people of Rwanda,” Kagame said.

He said Rwanda and Botswana share the aspiration for the wellbeing and prosperity of the peoples of the two countries, and “we are pleased to be here, to strengthen our friendship and bilateral cooperation.”

Kagame said that officials from both countries have been working together to strengthen the partnership in priority areas that will contribute to transforming the lives of the people of the two nations.

“I have no doubt that we shall succeed in this important task. This is because we are both committed to delivery, transparency, accountability and involvement of our people in their own development,” he said.

President Masisi tweeted that Kagame’s visit marks a pinnacle moment in the relations between Botswana and Rwanda. He said it is the first high level visit at Head of State and Government level after assuming office in April 2018.

“The visit will afford us an invaluable opportunity to exchange views on bilateral, regional & international issues of mutual interest,” President Masisi said.

“It will also serve to enhance and broaden the scope of bilateral cooperation between Botswana and Rwanda in various sectors of human development,” he added.

“I thank you for hosting us. I look forward to our visit again in the not too distant future. We will be back. Long live the people of Botswana, the people of Rwanda and of our continent,” Kagame said.

Kagame flew to Botswana after attending the 59th Independence anniversary on Wednsady as a guest of honour in Madagascar under the invitation of President Andry Rajoelina.
