Nicki Minaj will headline Saudi Arabia’s music festival next weekend

-

- Advertisment -

In a rather surprising announcement, rap icon Nicki Minaj is due to perform in Saudi Arabia on July 18 at the Jeddah World Fest. The female rapper is headlining the festival and will be joined by ex-boyband member Liam Payne as well as DJ Steve Aoki.

The announcement comes on the heels of a sweeping liberalisation drive headed by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and has excited residents of the country, of which two-thirds of the population are under 30. The announcement has rather shocked social media, however the festival’s organisers say that the event will smash stereotypes surrounding the Kingdom and demonstrate that it is accepting of, and open to, everyone.
