With the pandemic affecting businesses worldwide, tourism and hospitality business too has seen a major blow. However, with vaccines and immunization in process, travelling has been seeing a gradual expansion.
Of late, Dubai, too, has been seeing a surge in tourists, with flights being in operation. Tourists from across the globe have been flocking to the city of gold to bask in the very many attractions of Dubai. The reason for the surge in tourism is also because of the city’s proactive measures and protocols to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic.
To add to that, the airline industry flying to Dubai also has been swelling up their summer schedules with a maximum number of flights. Though the fear of the virus has kept many of them indoors even today, the others have been choosing Dubai as their next travel destination amidst the hotchpotch of the pandemic. According to Government data, more than 2.7 million COVID-19 tests have been conducted since flights restarted, of which only 0.7 per cent turned out positive results. A ‘Dubai assured’ stamp ensures that everyone in the tourism sector is complying with safety protocols.
Director-General of Dubai Tourism Helal Saeed Almarri reportedly shared Dubai’s multi-geographic strategy to react quickly to market changes across source markets combined with a strong economic relief program. He further mentioned that Dubai has a clear plan on how to tackle the Covid-19 and is ready to receive visitors, especially with the onset of Expo 2020 in the coming time.
Presumably, the hospitality businesses across, too, have also been planning for ‘Vaccine Tourism’ wherein tourists can come to the Emirate for a holiday or choose remote working from Dubai, stay long enough to be given both the doses of vaccine and then fly back home. Five-star hotels have agreed to the proposal and have been planning to implement the same.
