Reported West Ham United target Graziano Pelle is in talks over a move to Abu Dhabi after Al Wahda expressed their interest in the free-agent striker, as reported by Tuttomercatoweb.
Could one of world football’s most deep-pocketed individuals jump from one diamond-encrusted contract to another?
Pelle is looking for a fresh start after his eye-watering £260,000-a-week deal at Shandong Luneng expired in December.
And while Al Wahda are unlikely to match the £13.5 million he earned every year in China, Middle Eastern clubs are usually not short of a bob or two.
TMW reports that conversations have begun between Al Wahda and Pelle, as the 35-year-old former Italy international weighs up his next move.
Now, Pelle has a decision to make, the most difficult of dilemmas as he enters the final stretch of a fine career.
Does he want to add a couple more zeroes to his personal fortune, another gold bar or two for the collection? Or would he prefer one last stab at the European game before he hangs up his boots?
TMW reports that Serie A giants Inter Milan and Juventus are interested, with both Andrea Pirlo and Antonio Conte eyeing a physical centre-forward capable of adding depth to a star-studded frontline.
West Ham put an offer on the table last week too (TMW).
Pelle would hardly be a long-term solution at the London Stadium but the former Southampton targetman would act as a useful bridge between January and the summer, when West Ham will step up their pursuit of Sebastien Haller’s long-term replacement.
