The Ivory Coast Football Federation (FIF) has announced that Patrice Beaumelle will not extend his stay as head coach for the Elephants’ 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Frenchman, who took over the reins from Ibrahim Kamara in March 2020 and guided the Ivory Coast to the last 16 at the recent AFCON in Cameroon, reached the end of his contract on April 6.
Cote d’Ivoire failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup under the stewardship of Beaumelle after they finished runners up to Cameroon in Group D.
Ivorian football’s governing body, which is currently overseen by a normalisation committee until the presidential elections on April 23, subsequently decided not to renew the 43-year-old’s deal and wished him well in his future endeavours.
“The committee salutes Beaumelle’s human qualities, commitment, professionalism, humility and discretion,” a statement on FIF’s official website read.
“While welcoming the open-mindedness of the French technician and the good collaboration with the FIF, the committee wishes him a happy continuation of his career.”
Beaumelle’s departure follows hot on the heels of Carlos Queiroz, who vacated his post as Egypt head coach on Monday following the Pharaohs’ failed bid to reach the showpiece event in Qatar later this year.
