The Malhaar Centre for Performing Arts in Dubai will mark Eid Al Fitr with a musical event at the India Club on Friday, May 6 at 7:00pm, as reported by the Khaleej Times.
Malhaar musicians will perform popular Sufi tunes from Hindi films, mostly composed by AR Rahman and well-known Sufi poets such as Amir Khusrau and Kabir. The artists will also present some well-known pieces from Coke Studio, Pakistan.
The Founder-Director of Malhaar, Jogiraj Sikidar, mentioned how special festivals are for Malhaar Baithak and their audience. The centre has curated the evening with the title ‘Ibaadat’, meaning prayers, to celebrate the special occasion.
In a two-hour long concert, the artists will perform devotional compositions written by noted Sufi poets from the Indian sub-continent along with popular Bollywood hits. The audience will get a chance to enjoy a lot of variety, from classic compositions by Amir Khusrau like ‘Chaap Tilak’ and ‘Man Kunto Maula,’ to Kabir’s ‘Saheeb Mera Ek Hai,’ to Coke Studio Pakistan’s popular compositions like ‘Aaqa’ and ‘Pardadari’.
Poetry readings, trivia, beautiful singing accompanied by live instruments, and much more will be included during the performance.
Residents of Dubai can get free access passes to the special evening by contacting Malhaar.
On the same day, the ‘velvet voice of India’ Padma Shri Pankaj Udhas is ready to enchant the audience in Dubai at the World Trade Centre. The veteran will perform a beautiful rendition of ghazals spanning the past 40 years.
