The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon had a narrow win over the Mambas of Mozambique on Monday 11 October, at the IBN Batouta Stadium of Tanger in Morocco. Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui, scored the lone goal of the encounter in the 68th minute.
The day four clash of the Qatar World Cup Qualifiers was played three days after both teams took on each other, in Japoma Cameroon, where the Lions won 3-1.
Despite the fact that the Indomitable Lions have so far demonstrated superiority over Mozambique, coach António Conceição is still not happy about the circumstances that surrounded the match in Morocco.
He said they were treated inhumanely “it is a mixed feeling for me. I am happy with the results but I’m sad. All of the organization that was done, we arrived at the hotel at about 5:00 am with the match to be played at 2:00 pm. To me it’s inhumane to make professional players play a qualification of the World Cup in this type of condition” the coach regretted after Monday’s match.
However, he congratulated his players for the victory “we gave everything at the level of concentration. I could not ask more from my players. The most important thing is that the objective of these two matches, […] we grabbed the six points and that is what I asked of my players” Conceição said.
Focus is now on the next two outings against Malawi and Ivory Coast who are placed third (3 points) and first (10 points) respectively in Group D. Cameroon are second with 9 points while Mozambique occupy the last spot with one point.
Cameroon’s head coach has said they will continue with work, analysis and observation, to take just players who are in the best mental and physical state.
