The Dubai Expo 2020 metro station will begin operations on October 1, synchronized with the official opening of Expo 2020, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said on Saturday.
Mohammed Al Tayer, director general, chairman of the board of directors of RTA, revealed that the department has built more than 15 projects costing more than 15 billion dirhams to serve Expo 2020.
“However, the Dubai Metro will play a central role in the daily movement of people to and from the Expo 2020 site. RTA has undertaken the construction of the 2020 Dubai Metro route to ensure smooth mobility for all parties. stakeholders and visitors, ”said Al Tayer.
2020 route service timetables
The red and green lines of the Dubai Metro will provide passenger services from Saturday to Wednesday from 5 a.m. to 1:15 a.m. (the following day).
On Thursday, the service will operate from 5 a.m. to 2.15 a.m. (the following day), and Friday from 8 a.m. to 1.15 a.m. (the following day).
The service frequency will be every 2:38 minutes during peak hours. The Dubai Tram will operate Saturday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. (next day) and Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. (next day).
Expo 2020 Bus
Expo buses will operate from 6.30am and will continue to operate for 90 minutes after the Expo doors close.
The shuttle service between the parking lot (Expo parking shuttle) and the three Expo gates will start at 9:00 a.m. and will continue for 90 minutes after the Expo gates close.
The bus service between the Expo gates (Expo People Mover) will start at 6.30 am and will continue the service 90 minutes after the Expo gates close. Taxi and email services will operate 24 hours a day.
Fact: Route 2020 runs 15 km from Jebel Ali metro station on the red line to Expo 2020 station.
The metro line connects seven stations and provides safe and smooth transportation to Expo visitors as well as to parts of Dubai.
Route 2020 serves communities with populations of over 270,000 people, namely Gardens, Discovery Gardens, Al Furjan, Jumeirah Golf Estates, Dubai Investment Park and Dubai 2020 Exhibition Site, has said Al Tayer.
Expo Station is expected to receive 35,000 daily Expo visitors on weekdays, and the number is expected to increase to 47,000 daily visitors on weekends. This number represents 29 percent of the total expected daily visitors to the Expo.
It has a capacity of 46,000 passengers per hour in both directions, 23,000 passengers per hour per direction. The number of runners is expected to reach 275,000 runners per day by 2030.
The route connects seven stations: a connecting station, three overhead stations, two underground stations and an emblematic station: Expo 2020.
The area of the elevated stations ranges from 8,100 to 8,800 square meters, and the area of the two underground stations ranges from 27,000 to 28,700 square meters. Expo Station covers 18,800 square meters.

The station can serve 29,000 passengers per hour during peak hours and 522,000 passengers per day. It also features a unique airplane wing design symbolizing Dubai’s take-off towards innovation.
“The design of the station serves integration with public transport means with spaces for buses and taxis,” Al Tayer said. “Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station is the largest metro station in the entire Dubai Metro system. It covers 28,700 square meters and is 232 meters long. It can serve 11,555 passengers per hour at peak times and around 250,000 passengers per day, ”said Al Tayer.
