Bee’ah, Masdar to build 120-MW solar park on landfill in UAE

January 25 (Renewables Now) – A joint venture between environmental management company Bee’ah and renewables developer Masdar will build an up to 120-MW solar farm on top of a landfill in Sharjah, the UAE.

The JV, Abu Dhabi-based Emirates Waste to Energy Company, will develop the project in three phases at the site of the Al Sa’jah landfill, located near the 30-MW Sharjah waste-to-energy plant, the construction of which should be finalised later this year, and the waste management complex of Bee’ah.

The first phase of the solar photovoltaic (PV) scheme is seen to be completed in 2023.

Emirates Waste to Energy Company will be in charge of the financing, design, procurement and construction, as well as the 25-year operation and maintenance (O&M) of the solar park.
