School children in Abu Dhabi will continue e-learning (distance learning) for three more weeks, it was announced today.
Students were due to return to class this coming Sunday. The change in government guidance comes as the UAE sees a significant spike in cases of Covid-19. The decision impacts both public and private schools in the Emirate.
The Abu Dhabi Media Office reported the announcement, which read,
“The Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee announces the continuation of e-learning for all academic levels for three more weeks from 17 January, as a precautionary measure to limit the spread of Covid-19 and protect the health and safety of the schooling community”.
Abu Dhabi students, including those with chronic health conditions, were previously due to return to school on Sunday 17th January, following two-weeks of distance learning. This would have included students in years 7-9 who had not yet returned to school since the initial switch to distance learning in March 2020.
