The Minister of African Integration and Burkinabe from the outside made this Tuesday, February 12, 2019 in Ouagadougou, at the opening of the meeting of senior officials. For 48 hours, participants will discuss the RABAT process. This is a framework that provides an opportunity for participants to exchange and define a roadmap for a common vision of migration between Africa and Europe.
Scheduled to be held from 12 to 13 February 2019, the meeting of senior officials aims to define, approve the working arrangements and draw the signs that will facilitate the implementation of the action plan of Marrakech. This plan is a set of commitments made in May 2018 in Marrakech, Morocco.
The operationalization of the Marrakech Action Plan would be possible thanks to the Rabat process created in 2000 to promote the Europe-Africa dialogue on migration. For 2 days, participants will have the opportunity to take stock of achievements, present proposals, and make strong decisions to manage and order migration flows. In total, 56 States and 2 organizations, namely the European Union and the Economic Community of West African States, will take part in this exchange meeting.
As a reminder, Burkina Faso has chaired the Steering Committee of the Rabat Process since the 5th Ministerial Conference held in Marrakesh, Morocco on May 2, 2018.
