Kogi election petition court moves to Abuja

- Advertisment -

The Kogi State Elections Petitions Court for the 2019 General Elections has been moved to Abuja.

The Secretary of the Court, Aisha Mana, confirmed this in a statement issued in Lokoja on Wednesday.

Mana said the court, which was earlier scheduled to sit in Lokoja, will hold its sessions at the Federal High Court, Abuja.

She, however, did not give any reason for the relocation of the court.

But News Agency of Nigeria checks have revealed that the action may not be unconnected with the ongoing strike by the judiciary workers in the state.

NAN reports that the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, Kogi State Chapter had an indefinite strike on December 11, 2018 over unpaid salary arrears of six months.

NAN also recalls that the Kogi State Court was set up to hear complaints arising from the 2019 National and State Sssembly elections.

In the statement, Mana advised security agencies and other stakeholders to take note of the relocation of the tribunal to Abuja.
