Morocco is one of the most active countries in the framework of cooperation with the European Union (EU) on the Erasmus program. Since its launch, the Kingdom is the first African partner of the program and the second in the southern region of the Mediterranean, according to the Minister of Higher Education, Driss Ouaouicha, who spoke on Monday during the national day of information of the Erasmus program. In this respect, the Minister has drawn the positive from this cooperation. Since 2004, Morocco has participated in 144 projects, including 107 Tempus projects and 37 Erasmus capacity building projects.

A total of 7,424 student and staff mobilities were approved, representing 26 million euros of investment. Some 3,960 mobilities were carried out, including 2,809 outgoing (towards Europe) and 1,151 incoming (towards Morocco), while 47 students benefited from scholarships of excellence. 50 institutions of higher education and universities in Morocco with 190 European institutions have benefited from these mobilities, said the minister, noting that 71% of these mobilities are carried out by Moroccan public universities.
