Deemphasize Paper Qualifications To Stem Unemployment In Nigeria, Olubadan Tasks FG, Stakeholders

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji on Tuesday urged the Federal Government and other related stakeholders in the education sector, to evolve mechanism that will de emphasize paper qualifications in the country

Oba Adetunji made the call in Ibadan monarch gave these admonitions while playing host to the management of Precious Cornerstone University (PCU), Ibadan led by the VC, Prof Kola Oloke .

According to the royal father, this became necessary in view of the urgent need to stem the tide of unemployment in the country, adding that it is time

much premium be placed on the acquisition of entrepreneur-driven skills with a view to making many unemployed graduates, becoming self-reliant.

Oba Adetunji while lauding the “brilliant start” of the university, said he was aware the institution was established for knowledge and research.

He however expressed the happiness that university came into reality during his life time and that he is ready  to mobilize well meaning Ibadan indigenes with a view to supporting the growth and development of the institution.

Speaking,  the Vice Chancellor of Cornerstone Previous University, Prof Oloke commended Oba Adetunji for always identifying with the university since its establishment  saying, the monarch’s presence during the thanksgivings service held in honour of Governor Seyi Makinde at the behest of the Sword of the Spirit Ministries, the owners of PCU,was commendable.

Professor Oloke assured Oba Adetunji that the University ” is  placing much attention to the acquisition of entrepreneurial skills in its curriculum as against paper certificates.’ adding that

the university was majorly established to add value to the society and the sagging education sector as a way of bailing the country out its woods.
