The National Telecommunication Union (UNETEL), organization in charge of the development of telecoms / ICT in Côte d'Ivoire and defending the interests of telecommunications operators, announces an increase in mobile money transaction rates of 7.2% , as of February 1, 2019. This measure linked to the state's willingness to tax mobile transactions will necessarily increase the cost of living, as consumers now have to pay more to receive the services of money transfer companies. by mobile money.

A statement from the union, published in the press, indicates that this measure was taken in application of new taxes to companies transfer money by mobile phone, contained in the tax schedule to the law n ° 2018-984 of December 28, 2018 on the State budget for the year 2019.
