(CANAL +) – Ten young budding Beninese actors have been selected from around a hundred candidates to participate in a training in acting, organized and financed by Canal + in Cotonou.
From 5 to 8 February 2019, the famous director and actor from Benin, Sylvestre Amoussou, awarded in 2017 at the Panafrican Festival of Cinema and Television of Ouagadou (FESPACO) for his film "The African Storm", gave courses at the week long. This sector professional, who has managed to export his talent internationally has decided to return to his native country to participate in the training of the next generation of African actors.
The ten selected actors, all under the age of 30, will be able to learn how to analyze a script and a scenario; create, develop and embody a character and learn skills to improvise. They were put in situation and were able to shoot footage filmed in real shooting conditions.
" This training really gave us the keys to perfecting our acting game. We learned to control our body and our emotions and to work on our articulation. It's these details that make all the difference, and spending a week with Sylvestre Amoussou has been really beneficial for all of us, "says training participant Nadjibatou Ibrahim.
After Abidjan last December, Bamako in January, it is in Cotonou that Canal + has chosen to launch these tailor-made courses. The group wants in 2019 to replicate this format in several African capitals to make the most of professionals.
" We are engaged with local film and audiovisual actors in Africa. With these trainings, the objective is to transfer skills and participate actively in the development of the sector. Canal + International is a partner of African talent, and we strive to offer them as many opportunities as possible, "says Grace Loubassou, Head of Institutional Relations, who leads the project for Canal + International.
