Angola will launch its long-planned offshore licensing round for Namibe basin acreage on 3 October following roadshows scheduled to run throughout September.
The roadshows will promote both pre-salt and post-salt plays, according to seismic contractor PGS.
PGS has 2D and 3D multiclient seismic available for most of the blocks slated for presentation in a series of events taking place during October in Luanda, Houston, London and Dubai, after which the tender process will commence.
A 10-block licensing exercise was announced in Paris last month by state-owned Sonangol chief executive Sebastiao Pai Querido to include Block -10, located in the Benguela basin off the industrial port of Lobito.
The round will focus on the nine Namibe basin blocks -11, 12, 13 (close to the coastline) as well as 27, 28, 29, 41, 42 and 43.
