One hundred and one (101) candidates for the presidential election on April 18, including 13 political party leaders, have withdrawn the individual signature application forms, says the Ministry of Interior, Local Government and of the Spatial Planning in a statement made public Saturday.
According to an interim report, which was stopped at 4 pm on Saturday, 101 letters of intent were submitted to the ministry, 13 from political party presidents and 88 independent contenders, the ministry said, adding that "the concerned parties have benefited quotas of subscription forms, in application of the legal provisions in force ".
"Operations continue as demands are formulated and proceed in good conditions," notes the same source.
The presidents of political parties who have applied for the candidacy for the election of the presidency of the Republic are Belaid Abdelaziz, Front El-Moustakbel, Adoul Mahfoudh, Party of National Victory (PVN), Ali Benflis, party Talaia El Hourriyet, Ahmed Gouraya, of the Young Democrats for Citizenship Front (FJDC), Ali Zeghdoud, from
Algerian Rally (RA), Guerras Fethi, of the Democratic and Social Movement (MDS), Ali Faouzi Rebaine, Ahd 54 party, Omar Bouacha of the El Infitah Movement, Mohamed Hadef, National Movement for Hope (MNE), Abdelkader Bengrina , the El Binaâ Movement, Salim Khalfa, the Democratic Youth Party (PJD), Aissa Belhadi, the Front of Good Governance (FBG), and Abderazzak Makri, of the Peace Society Movement (MSP).
The last deadline for submitting nomination files for the election of the President of the Republic is March 3, 2019 at midnight, the Constitutional Council announced.
